MUSICAL BIOGRAPHY

A NEW SOLO SHOW

After so many years I finally begin a solo project: “Cana songs, from my own flamenco”. Of course I prefer playing with other musicians, but my nomadic life requires me to sing, play, and perform my creations solo, and that’s how the project begins. This same year the ensemble Aire Flamenco⬀ also gets underway with Martin Zƚotnicki⬀ on guitar and María Legarda⬀ on dance.

WITH MARTIN THROUGH FLAMENCO

Two lovers of flamenco come together: Cana and Martin (Martin Zƚotnicki). We both longed for it and made it our own. From our own compositions to the purest traditional styles, we aim to develop tradition through our most personal flamenco dreams.

At the same time, my third album begins to take shape.

AMARES

My second album: Amares, self-managed, collaborative, flamenco and deeply personal, is the result of passion, art, unity, and love.

During this year and the next I record and mix my second personal album, Amares. With a very similar approach to my previous work—self-managed, collaborative, and with an original, flamenco and deeply personal aesthetic—Amares is the result of passion for music, art, unity, and love.

From this time also comes a memorable tour in Germany⬀ with Gomera Flamenco Trío.

From this period we should also highlight a memorable tour in Germany⬀ with Gomera Flamenco Trío, produced by Andreas Lampe, which took us through several northern cities.

RETURN TO THE WANDERING LIFE

In summer I perform at festivals, in the street, or at one-off shows. The group Veranito Loco is born with Fernando Montes⬀ and Nyal Doya⬀.

FLAMENCO CALLS

The cultural explosion of the 1980s in Spain accompanied my growth. Art and innovation shaped youth culture at that time. Flamenco was also always there, in parties, in the streets, in gatherings, everywhere. For me, flamenco was also present day and night through the window of a small tavern in front of my house, through knocks and soul.

SEEKING ART

Later came different short-lived rock and singer-songwriter projects. I began writing literature, articles, and songs. My studies also focused on the arts: communications, design, television, and radio. These studies allowed me to travel, especially to Ireland, where I used to perform in pubs, and to Madrid, where I formed a traditional flamenco duo with guitarist Daniel Yagüe.

FIRST MUSICAL STEPS

As a child my musical life begins, first as a soloist in a choir and shortly after starting guitar in my hometown of Marchena in Seville.

As a child I began performing as a solo singer in the school choir. That is how early my musical life started. Shortly after came my first guitar lessons, as was common back then, curiously, in a barbershop in my hometown of Marchena in Seville.
