LYRICS (Cana)
Tangos que ya sabía (Tangos I already knew)
How I grab, how I eat
how I throw it to you, look how
how I grab, how I eat
how I throw it to you. (bis)
The first time I saw her
she seemed like a queen
the first time I saw her.
The second time I understood
by then she was already a star.
and I didn’t see her again
because I have her right here inside
and here I cannot look at her.
BEAUTIFUL LIGHT OF MY DREAMS
WITH YOU I LEARNED TO LOVE MYSELF
WITH YOU I LEARNED TO LOVE US.
I wondered who I am
why I exist, does anyone care?
I went to school to learn
but it’s not in the lessons.
The body is submerged
in the matter of the sea
the mind floats and the waves
lift it up and down
and we only see ourselves
when we can fly.
Camarón was singing
Patro went out to dance
“I was born from your womb, mother”
when my sister burst into tears.
That moment burned in me
and it still burns
she’s flamenca without pretending.
BEAUTIFUL LIGHT OF MY DREAMS
WITH YOU I LEARNED TO LOVE MYSELF
WITH YOU I LEARNED TO LOVE US.
Arco flecha (Bow and arrow)
What a great weapon the guitar is
what a great thing to have a drum
the voices, brave and clear
the bass, what vibration.
What a great weapon the guitar is
where a soldier cannot reach
how good to shoot notes
like bombs of emotion.
Let me touch a string
that makes us more human
so that my clumsy shot
finds the right direction.
GIVE ME THE BOW AND ARROW
I WANT TO HIT
I WANT TO HIT
I’M GOING TO HIT
GIVE ME THE BOW AND ARROW
I’M GOING TO HIT THE TARGET.
Le voy a DO con el RE
MI arco FAce salir al SOL
LA quiero clavar en el SI
REenFAdaDO MI SOLdaDO
Le voy a DO con el RE
MI arco FAce salir al SOL
LA quiero clavar en el SI
REenFAdaDO MI SOLdaDO
en el SI DO LA cuestión
(not translatable)
I’ve got a bow and arrow with five extra strings
and I keep them tight, my intention is to hit
I’ve got a bow and arrow with five extra strings
I just want to hit the mark.
I’ve got a bow and arrow with five extra strings
many arrows lost but some do hit
I’ve got a bow and arrow with five extra strings…
Eeoo
Much loved the Russian man in the bar, it was always a fair
good friend, simple, and he lived happily
exiled, he spent his whole life near Siberia
always waiting to return to his village.
EEOO I’VE COME BACK TO MY SOUTH
THERE’S A PARTY IN THE AIR, I WAS ALWAYS ANDALUSIAN
EEOO OOEO OE OE EEO
THE SMILE AHEAD, MY BELOVED SOUTH.
I was born in this land where the South begins
open doors, grace, and my blue sky
I’m from the North, from the North of the South
rhythm and warm cadence in this latitude.
EEOO I’VE COME BACK TO MY SOUTH
IF LIFE IS ENJOYED THERE IS GOOD HEALTH
EEOO OOEO OE OE EEO
FAMILY AND NEIGHBOURHOOD LIVE AS ONE.
One night, drunk, they walked him home
“I’m going back North,” he confessed crying
nobody looks at anyone in the street anymore
fear and coldness, things are changing.
EEOO WHAT BECAME OF MY SOUTH
BEAUTIFUL POSTCARDS INSIDE A BOX
EEOO OOEO OE OE EEO
WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OUR EYES, LIGHT IS FADING.
Taking from the North and letting go of the South
Western law chills us into more slavery
envy, guilt, very little drive
my land has changed, mate, what do you think?
EEOO WHAT BECAME OF MY SOUTH
BEAUTIFUL POSTCARDS INSIDE A BOX
EEOO OOEO OE OE EEO
WHAT’S HAPPENING IN OUR EYES, LIGHT IS FADING.
EEOO I’M LEAVING THE SOUTH
IF YOU DON’T ENJOY LIFE THERE IS NO HEALTH
EEOO OOEO OE OE EEO
NO FAMILY, NO NEIGHBOURHOOD, THERE IS LITTLE IN COMMON.
AMARES
The second project aimed to feel like the previous one, Colaboracción, self-managed and collaborative. From a modest team, with plenty of time, work and love, and with a bit more knowledge than before, Amares was born.
The second album, released many years later, was intended to resemble my first one, Colaboracción, in its way of being made: self-managed, driven by collaboration with my musician friends, and in the structure and style of the songs. From a modest setup, with a lot of time, work and love, and with a bit more knowledge than before, Amares was born.
Songs of universal love, hope, protest… Written and performed by me, and joined by my great musician friends: Chico, La Peke⬀, Kisko, El Edi de Chambao⬀, Sevi, Alberto Balda⬀, Pablo Carmona di Bonno⬀, Javié Carmona⬀, Bernardo Parrilla⬀, Raúl Martín “Merri”⬀, Ulises Arturo⬀ and Quique. And with the collaboration of many other people I’m truly grateful to.
I’d also like to give special thanks to Rubén G. Mateos⬀ for his dedicated and complex mastering work. And to Oscar and Ñito, photographer and amateur astronomer, who made possible such a unique album cover and photographs.
Songs composed by me, with lyrics about universal love, hope, and social awareness, performed by many generous artists, most of them linked to the town of Marchena, including myself on lead vocals and guitar. My collaborators were: Chico, La Peke⬀, Kisko, El Edi de Chambao⬀, Sevi, Alberto Balda⬀, Pablo Carmona di Bonno⬀, Javié Carmona⬀, Bernardo Parrilla⬀, Raúl Martín “Merri”⬀, Ulises Arturo⬀ and Quique. And many others who contributed in different ways: handclaps, backing vocals, revisions, spaces, materials, etc.
Special thanks to Rubén G. Mateos⬀ for his careful and complex mastering. And to Oscar and Ñito, photographer and amateur astronomer, who made such a special cover and photo set for the album.
